Vert Question

Hey I've been around DSM's my whole life and recently decided to get a 87-91 turbo II until I found a really nice really clean vert that I like, it has a TII hood on it and I really know nothing about 7's in the first place much less verts. My question is did vert's come turbo.. what engines did they have, would a turbo II motor fit on their transmission and work fine if not would a turbo II motor and trany be a direct swap in?

all verts in the U.S. came stock non-turbo. Yes, you can swap the turbo engine/transmission, but theres more to it than just that so search and read about it. its been covered 348372842 million times. oh, and welcome!

its pretty much a direct swap in but theres some minor modifying to the mounting for the heavier T2 tranny, its not a big deal. search button is your friend. I like to go into the Second Gen Archives and just stew in all the great knowlege. Its the best resource on the internet for RX7's

Welcome stranger

I could be mistaken but, I thought when I researched it. You need to replace the entire drive line and rear end not just the motor and tranny.

if you replace the motor and tranny, then you have to replace all of it. but if you just drop the motor in and keep the tranny, thats fine as long as you dont push over about 250 horses

Mazdatrix.com has a driveshaft that'll connect a TII tranny to an N/A rear end. But why half *** it?

So as long as you are under about 250hp the stock trany will work? So the nonturbo trany will bolt up to the turbo II motor?

Seriously dude do a search.. O even found a link to a guy that specializes in the turbo swap. He had a how to section and a list of what would work and what wouldn't. I will see if I can find it for ya
