Wire problems need help

Okay I just rebuilt my s4 t2 engine . So I installed it and connected up my starter. So I put the battery and crank the engine over. Note that I do not have anything else electrical connected. I just want to turn my engine over. None of the lights onthe instide of the car turn on aswell

well if the ignition is not wired up, then the starter kill wouldn't be working.

If you just wanted to test the starter by turning over the engine, then you would want to just wire directly to the starter, and jump the solenoid
