Vert Owners...

How do you get rid of the squeaking and creaking in the area where the targa top and windows meet? I tried silicone spray but its temporary, and I'm not sure its good for the rubber and plastic. Its worse now in the cold weather.

Generally when the roof is squeaking against something, either the seals are bad or the latches are adjusted in correctly.

Mine is ridiculous, I also have some horrible cowl shake going on whenever I hit big bumps. I would drown it out with the stereo, but my speakers suck.

They are just "road sounds". You learn to love them. I miss those sounds.

I rarely if ever have a problem, only when hitting large bumps or going through areas like driveways where the angle changes a lot at once.

The rubber parts all look pretty good. I suppose I can try adjusting the latches. Any suggestions - besides RTFM?

Mine roof squeaks like crazy. I never really noticed it all that much until someone made a post about how much some verts squeak, now I notice it all the time, lol :-(

Mine has a small squeak at the driver side door hinge. If I pinch it with my hand it quiets it. But since it's riveted, there isn't really a way to tighten it is there? I haven't tried any lubricating spray. Maybe a light coat of grease or something would be a more permanent fix?

My top rattles over the bumps, weatherstripping is in excellent condition, latches are pretty tight. Is there anyway to adjust the latches? Don't see anything in the F4 FSM.
Maybe its asking too much for a old convertible top not to rattle, at least its quiet with the top down!

Remember that the weather stripping may look good, but if it is hard, and old it will be squeeking.

To adjust the latches you have a couple different ways.

The latch grip on the top of the windsheild can be adjusted forwards and backwards about a 1/4 inch.

also if you look at the latch on the targa roof, you can see that the actual hook rod that goes out and grabs the latch grip can be screwed in or out by loosening the 10mm nut and turning the hook.
