I am a complete idiot. Front bolt popped out.

Well. It was freezing cold and dark this morning at 7:00, blizzarding, and I was damned if I was going to be taking the bus to class....(univ.)
SO I decided to take my work-in process car. I havn't been driving it because it's a rolling restoration project currently.
Forgot that I had seen quite a bit of oil pooling in the fornt pulley earlier.
Drove to class, and on my way back, about 2 min from my house, I noticed a suddely oil smell and more smoke than usual (no biggie, my turbo oil seals are shot and it was smoking anyways- I just thought they puked entirely.)
Well, Pulled in the driveway, noticed smoke under the hood.
My damn main pulley bolt popped right out- oil sprayed everywhere.
Now, my oil light didn't go on, because it wasn't running long enough to pump all the oil out. I was driving at about 40 km's very lightly at the time because the roads were ice.
I'm not worried about any sort of damage from lubrication, I still have oil reading on the very tip of the dipstick, and I wasn't going over about 1500 rpms.

Now... I have to worry about pinching the front needle bearing trying to put the bolt in again, don't I.
I know that whenever you remove the bolt you have to press the clutch in to put pressure on the eshaft...
It's a huge pain to remove the front cover while it's in the car because those front oil pan bolts are difficult to get to (above the x-member!)

Can I just try and get it in, and constanly make sure I still have a tad bit of end play, therefore knowing I'm not pinching the bearing??
The pulley is still on, and seems to be tight.
Don't ever let me near a car again.

Yes, yes sir you are

Now that we are on the same page here.

I would do it right to be safe (personally) think about how much MORE effort will be involved if you *** it up even worse

Well, Good new to me so far- the pulley is still on tight... Still have a tiny bit of end play... It's the pulley that holds the shaft on, and if it doesn't move outwards, the shaft can't move backwards.
Now... I am incredibly pissed that I have lost the oil pellet. The main bolt and the spring were both in the undertray, but teh pellet is gone.
I had 2 spares, but I moved... and thought, when the hell am I going to use these?? I think I pitched them. Never fails.
62 bucks from the dealer for a new pellet!!! HAHAHA! Too bad thats the only option that will get me going in the next few days.. now I have to wait for someone to ship one to me.
If you are ANYWHERE around Windsor, Ontario (Detroit) and have a pellet, please let me know!!!

Get the pellet bypass plug, cheaper and better.

Atkins and mazdatrix both sell them.

That would take me about 2 weeks to get. Shipping over the border is garbage right now.
It's a part that a lot of people just have in a pile from doing engine rebuidls and such.
I just shim the regular pellet- same thing essentially.
