Vert opening question....

Ok, so I have a really quick question about opening and closing the the roof. Does the targa have to come off every single time you open the roof? Am I supposed to store the targa in the trunk or somewhere else?

No, the roof is opening and closing without needed to remove the hardtop.

You can take the Targa off or fold it down over the rear section.

The long tab above the passengers head allow it to be folded.

The targa section can also be removed and put into the trunk. I recommend using the Targa bag if you so that. It helps save the seals.

Thank you... I will try it in the morning... B/c everytime I would put the top down, then remove the targa; then put it back on just to put the top back up... It only takes a couple of min. but after a while I thought it was just kinda wierd to have to take the targa off everytime.... I guess I was just doing it wrong though, lol... Thanks guys...

p.s.-- these were my last newbie vert questions.... I promise, lol.

yeah, dude, you just fold it all the way back, then press the tab up on the passanger side, and the targa folds down onto the collapsed top.

I really have to say, I think it's funny you've been removing it every time. Thank you for the laugh.

lol... yea... It didnt matter to me at first... But as you can tell, I have had the vert for a little over a week now and I'm getting tired of taking it off everytime already. Oh well, you live and you learn. Its still my first convertable... And to be honest, I am suprised that a $600 car made me change my mind from getting a 350Z or another new car in that price range. Instead, I am gonna do the 13BRE swap into, and deck out the interior. Stay tuned everyone b/c its about to go down...

I enjoy removing the targa but have NEVER put it in the trunk.

I've always had stuff in there.

I always put it on the rear deck after I raise the top without the targa. Then, I flip the wind blocker up.

Just another option and more convenient IMHO.

Heh, I've never owned a 'vert and passed a few sweet deals up because I always thought that you had to remove the targa to operate the top which I found retarded.

Now I know better.

I had a '91 vert that was my daily driver for three years before I ever took the targa panel out. And I only did it once. Looks cool, but a major PITA, you're screwed if you get caught in the rain, and the rear visibility with the top up is terrible.

BTW, Apathy, congrats on getting the vert; you'll love it. I still regret trading mine, and am in the process of buying another. I'm another South Floridian and a diehard convertible guy, and the RX7 has been my favorite.

PS Somebody asked me once, "How could you live in Florida and drive a convertible?" My response: " How could you live in Florida and NOT drive one?"

Sure can. It can all be done from the drivers seat.

Stop, pull the e-brake

Undo the latches and then open the top just a bit. close the latches and the latch covers if you still have them.

Hit the hinge button so that the targa begins to fold. Hold it so it doesn't whack you in the head.

Continue putting the top back until it is all the way down andf folded.

If you want to use the windbreaker, fold both seats forward and flip it up.

Putting it back up is the same in reverse but be SURE not to let it whack you (when you flip it open, make sure it locks). It got me once in the head and it hella sucks ***.

It's rare for me to put the top up or down

other than when I'm sitting in my car. It's very very easy, as the above indicates.

The only thing you do need to get out of the car for is to put on the booth which I only do on special occasions like SevenStock.

I got my 91 FC vert 2 weeks ago for a daily driver and I love this car. I whacked myself pretty bad with the top both putting it down and later raising it up a couple days after getting it. I think the bump on my head lasted a few days. Anyhow, I found this link with the FC vert instructions in case anybody needs it http://www.cabrio7.org/rx7man1.html
