Question vert hardtop?

Has anyone ever heard of a hard top for the vert community? I think it would like sweet if it existed

The vert top has a great coefficent, adding a hard top would add more to the bulk. The vert top has a built in roll bar and gives the car rigidity. Where would u put the top and on top of that, when it rains your screwed. The only pro to a hard top is no little gay rips,

why not???? yeah i know the whole point of a vert is to let the sun come in, but it would be nice to have a hard top to put on when it's cold; raining; or too damn hot to have the top down...

if you want a hard top, it's prolly going to be much more work than you think.

you prolly have to fab up something similar to the hardtop latch system on the miata, with side latches behind the door panels, frankenstien bolts on the rear deck, and have your hard top mate with the front latches.

as for actually making the hard top, you're on your own, it's not like you can chop a coupe and stick rain rails on it, you'll be laying fiberglass and stuff to your own specs.

my father has had a miata for 5 years in blistering cold and rain, and it has never leaked or gotten cold or anything. in the cold just let the heater do it's thing.

I have been talking to some fiberglass wizards that I go to school with and they are going to make me one out of carbonfiber that is solid on the back half useing the same rear window, and putting new hinges on the targa top so it will come off like a Supra's targa. It would no longer be a vert but would go targa still. I am just waiting for them to get done with his car (sometime this summer) and the vert to carbonfiber targa project will begin. I will take lots of pics.

I've had my vert for a few months now and can say that it holds out the weather wonderfully well. Because of the targa top you really can't tell the car is a vert when you're driving around with the top up...except for the annoying blind spots.

I love driving around my town with the targa-top off. Blind spots are annoying as hell but one time when I was working, at a stoplight this guy pulls up to me and was like "Dude is that a Porshe?" and I was like "nah dude it's a Mazda... and it's cooler than your damn Scion!"

I think the targa look ghey!!!

but just my opinion
Ive had someone ask me if my vert was special model of Mercedes before. that was funny..
as for vert tops keeping out the elements....you are all lucky. ive got a mint *** vert and an unidentifieable stupid leak. If i leave it outside over night and there is a storm ive got a puddle of water behind my seat! sucks and i cant find the leak.

I like going targa and I think it makes the car look good. If you can't find your leak check your pocket drain hoses, if they are not draining right the seal around the hose inside the pocket will leak. I had one hose get kinked and it took me awhile to find out how the water was getting behind the seats. I wonder why Mazda decided use to pockets in the top.

If you cant find the leak in the top:

Check the drain plugs to see that they are not clogged
Check the gasket around the top
And check the molding around the doors. Mine leaks from the molding at the top front of the window on both passenger and driver side. I cram wads of paper in there when it rains.

Nearly any upholstery shop can redo the top, but there are a few companies that make nothing but vert tops for cars and if you google you can find one for the Rx7s.
