its 2 pieces right? doesnt the one part just bolt on? i know the main crossmember i would have to take the front of the car completely apart to get on.

so nobody else is interested in greatly stiffening the chassis on their car?

for a vert you will have to get out your grinding wheel to notch out room for a 3inch downpipe. Ask me how i know

The extra brace is the bottom piece in that photo. It's not that heavy at all. It's made from two pressed steel pieces welded together and is hollow in the middle. I didn't weigh it, but it feels a lot lighter than it looks.

interesting...............Convertible parts into a hardtop for stiffening..........Why not just install a front lower arm bar and a triangulated strut to firewall brace. Like the one from mazdatrix or CpRacing?????
That adds a whole lotta stiff with seemingly no weight. Maybe 5 pounds max.

Mint87Rx7 if this part was made by race on usa and had a drift sticker on it 3000 people on this forum would say "I want it". If you already have it bolt it up. throw in a front and rear strut bar and you should feel a nice difference.

I don't think the holes to bolt to are in the coupe chassis. There is a lot of extra metal in the vert chassis and I think the mounting points for that piece are add-ons. I think a strut brace will do more for stiffness if it triangulates to the cowl.

^thats what i was thinking, the holes probly are not on the coupe. i already have front and rear triagulated strut bars and those add a hole lotta weight, more than this brace would. I guess I am just being lazy, i also have a vert but havent taken the time to put them both up on ramps to check out if it would work. I think today i will check it out, ill post up if it will work.
bukwild, i know what you mean. everybody wants the expensive aftermarket stuff but never look into the cheap stock stuff that would probly work better. the vert outhandles a coupe by far and i am trying to get my coupe to take the vert in corners

i was curious about this exact question last night, i feel that my 91 s5 vert auto vert does handle a little better than my 91 coupe did, aleast it feels more stable and neutral when tackling corners. what i was thinking was why not use the crossmember, vert motor mounts, vert shock/strut mounts, vert springs and bbs wheels to make a good handling coupe using stock parts...just some random rx7 thinking thats all i dont think i want to tear my vert apart...yet.

Don't forget the sway bars. They are the stiffest of any FC.

Yeah I have the 3 inch thunder fab DP/MP combo and you have to notch out the brace a little to get it to fit in and not rattle against it. Is your DP a custom or that little short RB one.

True...........Take a micrometer to the sway bars of a convertible and then take the micrometer to the sway bars of a TurboII...................The covertible has thicker sway bars...............

Not that you ask, I don't remember. It looks similiar to the RB, but that is a 2.5in version.

I used the big honking RB one - it fits like a glove as its bent to fit verts!!!

yeah I have a 3inch dp from rx7.com and the 3inch DP/MP combo is visibly larger. I didn't even think it was going to fit. Thuder fab measures their 3 inches from the inside of the pipe and the others are measuring the diameter of the outside is 3 inches. So the pipe most sell is really 2.5 and if its not mandrel bent its less. I will get a few pics of it and post them. Don't be fooled by BS from these rx7 companies that have not improved their designs in 10 plus years
