Verdict using sea foam in gas tank?
Verdict using sea foam in gas tank?
So In my experience whenever I tried using This sea foam, my GXL straight up doesn't like it
. Hesitations at idle that bogs it down to 400rpm, accel hesitation, and decel bucking. I put a bottle of that in the gas tank when I was near empty and the problems started. I never had that bad of hesitation til I put it in. I would premix every fuel up. Always smooth.
Was I suppose to put some in a vacuum line, the oil filler, or gas tank? I've read here that a lot of people love it, or they'd say YMMV. hence why I gave it a shot. What's the official verdict of this? Is there a proper way to use it? I just wanted to clean my injectors lol.

i used it in my fuel in the past, but i can't say i experienced what you did.
when did you last change the fuel filter? if your injectors are a concern, why not send them out and have them professionally done?

I last changed it back in September last year. About 3k miles ago. Yeah I just might do that honestly. I bought a whole other set of injectors to send in and swap out later. Just don't want the car to be down for so long.
After emptying the gas tank, I went to fill up with idemtesu premix and yup, she's back to normal idle. I guess my car in particular is not a fan of sea foam
Several years ago used it in the highest ratio possible (nearly empty tank, whole bottom of seafoam) and it didn't hesitate that badly. There was a little bit of popping and the occasional puff of smoke from the exhaust. I even drove it pretty hard to the nearest gas station just to really maximize any possible cleaning.
It definitely helped (probably cleaned out the injectors a bit) but I still had to get them professionally cleaned to get everything working properly.
I would recommend it to people looking for a quick fix that might improve how well a neglected car will run, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it as a proper repair
