vented my bov to atmosphere

i vented my bov to atmosphere. what is this valve that people keep puting on the end of their stock bov after venting it? do i really have to have one? i thought it just blew air out (hence the name) and never sucked any air in... can someone upload a picture of what their stock vented BOV looks like with one of these little one way valves on there? thanks guys

The valve is a check valve that prevents air from being sucked in at idle. It is necessary on the stock BOV.

Have you read this article? Many factory BOV’s are slightly open at idle, which isn’t normally a problem because they’re plumbed back into the TID. If you open-vent it, and don’t put a one-way valve on the end, you create a vac leak which will cause idle problems.

Well since this is a ghetto mod, any ghetto way you'd like(duct tape, zip ties, etc ).

On mine, I have about 3" of hose off the stock BOV nipple on the IC piping and then the stock BOV, then 9" of hose to the corner of the engine compartment by the cruise control box. I put the check valve on the end. Zip ties hold it to the cruise control box and the valve points right where the hood meets the fender and the cowl. make sure the check valve sits so the flapper door inside it seated.

i've got a check valve i'll give you. send me $5 bucks shipping. Its one you can get from home depot. You'll have to cut a couple coils off the spring to prevent compressor surge but it will work great and sound even better. PM me.

I had a problem venting mine with a Check Valve, however, I just tightened up the piston on the spring. That way the spring will hold it shut tighter, but still allow it to open.
