Vent mount guage pod...

Basic product. I was thinking about fiberglassing it in but decided against it. I don't think i'd like it. I'm going to coat it in rubber and call it good. I like the simplified look.

This is just the template, I'm going to build a couple more from good mild steel. It fits both 52mm and 60mm guages...it's better for 60mm guages, looks neater. 52mm guages require a spacer.

It mounts in the drivers side defrost vent and anchors with a tri-pod that slips under the dash and a 14mm nut. Wiring and vac lines are fed through a single 10mm hole in the base.

good thinkin. hopefully nobody uses the vents to defrost their windows :P

any idea if the metal heating up from below will affect the reading of the gauge (ie if its a temp gauge)

if you use a mechanical temperature guage then yeah, it might, from the heat on the cable. Otherwise, no.

I did the same thing, no fancy pod though, I did a macgyver job and chopped up a piece of plastic (an old CD actually) to the shape of the demister vent (which was already all cracked up), and hot glued it to the vent piece. Then I bolted the gauge to the plastic, kinda ghetto, but it doesn't look terrible. I'll snap a few pics tomorrow if I remember.

No airflow = no heat.
