Vdi soleniod check/replacement
Okay I kind've mentioned this in another thread but the title doesn't really apply. I have a 1991 rx7 NA and when I hit 6000rpm it's like my car hits a wall, it takes forever to accelerate and I can't hit redline. I took the vdi solenoid valve off and when I blow through it no air comes out of the air filter on it. I did the battery test and it comes out the other port and I can here the valve opening but not when I test it manually. Is there a way you can clean it? or fix the old one. If not where can I get a new one?
Note: If I am testing it wrong please tell me but pretty sure this is what is causing me troubles.

i never head of solenoids being repaired. i think you can only find replacements at the dealer and ive heard theyre about $65, but im not positive. you can find some used ones in the for sale section. just look for a part out. ive found replacement solenoids that way. i havent tested them though, so i dont know if they work or not.
Pull the filter off the solenoid and try to back blow thru it.
Make sure the solenoid is configured like a VDI solenoid and not configured the *other way*. In other words the filter can be moved from port to port.
In other words look at the Switching solenoid. It's configured the *other way*. So make sure your VDI is configured like the picture in the FSM.
And if the thing is actually bad, well use one of the other solenoids and make sure you configure it like a VDI before using it.
If it's really bad, then just get a solenoid off a wreck. Matters not which as long as you configure it like a VDI when you install it. Can't cost more than three bucks for a used one.

Okay I made a mistake yesterday. It was a long night and my brain wasn't functioning properly. Anyways long story short the vdi and 6pi solenoid valves are good. I went over and over the timing and crank angle sensor and I am pretty sure thats not it. Now my question is what else could it be? What else should I be checking. Its like my car hits a wall at 6000. In neutral it barely revs to 8000 and in first I don't notice as much but especially second and third, where it struggles to get to seven. Thanks for help so far but I am stumped
