Unhappy vacuum leak hell

Ok i put a new gasket on the Intake Manifold but it didnt help an there is nothing else that i mest with when i pulled the motor out of the car. But i can still hear the hissing sound loud an clear. It starts hissing around 2000 rpms an if you try an sit on 3500 rpms it starts idling odd it jumps from like 3300 rpms to about 3700 rpms all while holding the gas at the same position. If you let it idle down lower thatn about 1500 rpms it dies. An i know its not good for it but the only way to get it started is to use starting fluid.

check your maf sensor, crack open the top(the black plastic) and see if you can have a friend hold it open with his finger while you rev the engine and see if it dies.
where are you located?

pop off the upper intake mani and replace all the old vac lines with colored vac lines from racing beat(it will make it easier to replace because of the color). be careful taking the vac lines off the solenoids because they break easy.

come on somebody has to know what this thing is i'm tired of takin the intake manifold off. The book told me it would take about an hour to take off i have taken it off so many times i can do it in under 20 minutes. Not sure if this a good thing or a bad one!?

Yay for only having 2 hoses and 5 bolts that I have to take off.

Anywho, replace all the rubber lines on all the emissions equipment. Check the EGR valve.

i thought it was coming from underneath the mani also......
turned out to be the gasket for the upper intake mani. to the lower mani. i didnt scrape all the old gasket off well enough...RTV fixed it though ( i dont recommend RTV sinve you cant really save the gasket if it needs taken off)....
try using your starting fluid and spray where you think the leak is being VERY carefull not to spray the exhaust and catching it on fire!

good luck!

try capping the bypass air solenoid, it's the big hole on the drive side of the upper upper mani or whatever it is called.

edit:

we can only show you the door you have to open it, welcome to the rx7club.
you have to find the leak and then if you have questions post pics, if you want someone to do it for you go search in the south rx7 forum.

goodluck

try using starting fluid or wd-40...anything really to find the leak:

-have a friend hold the gas to keep it running

-use a can of starting fluid to spray around the area you think the leak is located

-when you spray the leak you'll hear the engine change sounds

yeah thats how i found out it was on the drivers side. When i spray startin fluid strait down at the edge of the manifold the car will jump from around 2000rpms to 3500 rpms so i know the bad one is there i got another small one on the other side
