Question Vaccum Lines

I had my throttle body and vaccum lines checked today, and I was told that there were about 4 or 5 leaks in my vaccum lines. I was also told that if I did not change them out I wouldn't have a good chance of passing emissions.

I've heard that leaking vaccum lines can actually impede the power output of an engine (these could be as much as 177k miles old, although on an NA), so I'm thinking I might as well change them out.

My question is - Is the www.rx7store.net vaccum hose kit complete? And if so, is it silicone hose? Thanks for any info.

The rx7store kit is for all the vacuum hose lines from what I can see. If you have so many vacuum leaks you might as well just go ahead and replace all the lines. The vacuum lines control alot of things like engine components and emissions equipment, so yes, any leaks will affect emissions and engine performance.

Alright, good to know. I remember picking up a friend's Power Pages magazine and it showed that Import Tuner made 29.1hp over baseline after replacing every vaccum hose. I highly doubt I'll see anything like that, but I'm still going to replace every vaccum line I can with that kit. Thanks.

I bet Import Tuner used the Red colored lines. Get those. The Yellow ones are for pussies.

Maybe the car only had 29.1 hp to begin with and the car wouldn't run with the vaccum leak that it had.

Well, to be honest, it was a much needed tune-up (something my motor just might need). They started with 200.1 and ended up with 229.2 I believe, so 29.1hp. Minimal torque gains, though.

Also, I'm going with the red lines as they're basically the only ones that I can find.

I went to fair bit of trouble to locate silicone vacuum hose for my 7 last summer. I even turned it into a group buy for other owners on this forum.

And my thoughts on it now, almost a year later?

I wasted my time and my money.

IMHO, unless you have a burning desire to have coloured hose under your hood, forget about that kit. Go to your local parts store and grab good old fashioned neoprene hose and put that in your 7. Save yourself the wait and the money.

silicon hose isnt that hard to find and you really dont need a kit considering 75% of the lines are the same size

I got my stuff from mazdatrix when i pulled all my intake manifolds off for porting. IF you search the boards there is a post that tells you exactly how many feet of each OD you need to do all of them.

but there are companies that sell only what you need or get more of a higher quality product for less money!

What color are you looking for?

Corksport sells hose techniques brand which is pretty good quality.

I still think buying a kit will endup costing more money seeing as all of the ones i have seen (that are worth anything) are 100+ dollars.

Hosetechniques doesnt even make their own hose. I used to make all the hose for them.

Plus our kits are only $80. As another member put it " With all of the silicone I got, I could have wrapped my car in it"

HTS RX7 kits=
- 45 feet of 3.5mm
- 15 feet of 4.0mm
- 20 feet of 6.0mm
- 5 feet of 8.0mm

Platinum cured silicone
Heavy wall construction.

ok.. so is the kit good or bad? worth or not worth?

I would pay more for fine detailing, but not too much more.

IMO

When my inventory gets built up (2000ft per size, per color) I will get a ad with RX7club to support the site. Maybe even look into a sticky "about silicone" or something.

When it is the same hose and you can get it cheaper because it isnt marked up to rediculous levels why not? I wont be making any more "superblue" anymore. I have over 4000ft in stock already. We have found that a lot of people think it is too dark anyway. So when it is gone all of our hose will be made to match our intercooler hose blue color.

BTW 1ft min

I don't mean to cut you down, I'm posting my exp here. I removed emissions and was able to replace all my vacuum hoses for 38 dollars from mazdatrix. I used some hose techniques stuff for my DSM and have no complaints with it.

1) 6 VACHOSE-6.0-STD HOSE VAC 6.0MM $3.00 $18.00
2) 10 VACHOSE-3.5-STD HOSE VAC 3.5MM $2.00 $20.00

You live in Maryland, I live in California. There's a big difference between the SMOG procedures/tolerances. I have to keep all of my emissions equipment. I'm thinking of simply buying the hose kit to save myself some trouble. It doesn't seem like TOO much more money, it'd be a different story if it was like a $200 difference.
