Vac leak or low compression?

I was out driving my TII last weekend, screwing around as per usual, some high rpm and high throttle runs on the country roads etc. Well After I was done dinking around and driving back in city traffic I noticed it was idling a lot higher, like in the 1300 to 1500 range.

I have my idle bumped up a little, its usually at 900-1000. My vac gauge usually pulls around 400mm/hg at 900rpm idle. Now its only pulling 300 at 1300rpm. I thought at first I blew a vac line somewhere, but I haven't found anything yet. When cold the car is stalling at start up unless I blip the gas pedal and rev it up to about 4k, and even then it still might stall. It will stay running after that just fine, but at the higher revs. Should I be busting out my compressing tester and preparing for the worst?

i would prepare for the worst anyways.... do the compression test just for ***** and giggles, it's good to know where you are at regardless, and hopefully you are doing fine; then check for vac leaks, but if the car is idling at all then it's either no vac leak or just a minor one. Other than that I can't help you....

This is a good excuse to rebuild it anyways, since its not blown, it'd be cheaper to rebuild it before its farked, and street port it.

i dont do my vacuum test in mm but in inches but i am also dealing with a vacuum probably and after searching and fixing vacuum leaks there was still low vacuum. Well anyway if its a vacuum leak when you raise the idle to like 2000 you should see vacuum increase significantly(i cant spell). just incase you didnt know if you dont have the mazda compression tester your standard compression tster will not work you need to remove the shrader valve.
