using jdm block question

does anyone know if i buy a jdm engine and just use the block, and swap all parts around the block from my old engine, will it work? is it the jdm block that is different? or is it just the wiring/ parts around the block? also is the transmission usable with an american motor? by the way it's a 88 turbo 2

Actually you might as well do that. I have a JDM engine in my T2 and I had to swap almost everything off of it to my US version parts. The lower intake works unless you need the subzero assist or cold start assist port. If not then the JSPEC version does not have that port.

Other than that you can swap over everything else.

As for the tranny I had to swap a few parts off the US to the JSPEC tranny and it worked fine.
