i carry used S5 motors, only thing is since they are so old and generaly have been sitting so long(not many people import rotaries vs piston motors) that a good over haul is need in my experience, you can atf the motors and that ususlly helps, but what i do is get the motors rebuild them port, new seals, reliablity mods then sell the short blocks, last month i recieved 5 S5 and 3 S4 out of the motors. i have 2 S4 motors left and 2 S5, these motors are being rebuilt as we speak. though i can get you a S5 motor complete jspec if needed.

The only thing JSPECS are good fro is a rebuild core. They are NOT magical "LOW MILAGE" engines. They are4 cut out of JAPANEESE wrecks and junk

ive had no problems with my J-spec. in fact, its been the best engine ive ever had, survived 2 over heats and several 20psi boost spikes(ive had a few issues with the car driving...its a long story) several of my friends have J-specs. they have 0 trouble with them. i see no reason not to get one.

my understanding on the 30k mile myth is that i believe japanese cars have to get completley inspected/rebuilt every 30k miles, most dont want to pay for overhaul prices so they get a new engine or a rebuild. the used engines are then pulled out and sold for parts or shipped over here. thats my understanding anyway, not sure on its accuracy.

i got mine from japan direct. their website is http://www.usedengines.com/ they inspect their engines and give a warantee as well. they are good on prices and have excellent sales people. if/when my current engines luck runs out, ill go with another from them.

i got a really good deal on mine because me and a freind ordered them at the same time. i payed $850 shipped to my door. not too bad id say. another friend ordered one later and payed 950 shipped. as a bonus, both my friends got some goodies on their engines. one friend had a TPS test light attatched his engine, the other friend got his with the whole harness and ECU strapped to the top. he opened up the ECU and it had a panspeed chip in it. plus it had an old school HKS blow off valve on it. i got jipped though. mine was just a plain engine. a guy i know got his in and it had an OS Gikken twin plate clutch attatched to it, still good!! its kinda like a little surpirse you can get with an engine. it happens to some, maybe ill get some goodies next time.

nippon motors also has j-spec 13b's. I'm sure most j-specs bought from a company that isnt out to scam, they'll be in running condition..but I wouldnt risk wasting the almost 1k on a engine that would make an excellent rebuild core, having it blow in just a couple weeks or something and be down a rotor and housing...

This is sometimes true depending on the importer you use. Rotaries are a special type engine as im sure everone knows. Just cause you can build a pistion does not mean you know anything about rotaries. All our engines are comp tested via a mazda digital comp meter(comp7 upgrade) and leak tested. If we order a core we buy a core and do not pay regular price nor do we sell these cores to customers. CORE J-spec engines make good cores due to the lower milliage. But our tested J-spec engines are good for years of service if taken care of and not used beyond there means. If you get a J-spec engine, get one from a company that specializes in ROTARIES. We do order piston engines time to time but we are all rotary. Now I am not trying to get free advertising here all im saying is buy a J-spec RE from a place that specilzes in REs. If not us perhaps FC3s.com. I belive we are the only 2 out there.

Right now we are rebuilding our web page should be done in a couple of weeks RotaryWorks.com

Long block no harness or ecu cut at fire wall. Sometimes the ic is dented a little from shipment.

warrenty is a garrentee to start with no compression issues or collent leakage.

We also carry T2 trannies from Japan. Same warrenty good syncros, shifting smoothly

Lastly we have 4 13bt arriving next tuesday one is already sold(thanks Jeremy)
Please let us know if we can help ya

I currently am running a S4 J Spec that is put down 321 RWHP. Its getting a new turbo and should surpass the 400 RWHP mark.
I have a friend who is putting down those numbers right now on J Spec.
Both of our engines were bought from Nippon. They do have a 30 day warranty and they honor it. We bought a bad one a couple of years ago, and they exchanged it no questions asked.
It is all in the tuning.
I know I could be putting down more, reliable HP with a rebuild, but for $750, I don't think I'm doing too bad?
My current engine has lasted 1 season of racing the 1/ 4 mile.
If it only cost $750 a year for this, I think that's a pretty good deal.
With the wrong tuning, you can blow a rebuilt, ported, 3mm engine just as easy as you can a J-spec.
I have done some other stuff that makes my engine more reliable.
Haltech, 1600cc secondarys, Aquamist H20 injection.
I have blown 3 other J specs, so I know all about the reliablity factor.
If you are running a stock ECU, injectors, etc. etc., then a rebuild can offer the margin of error you may need.
A fresh motor will take minor detonation better than a used one.
