urethane filled motor mounts

Has anyone done this to fc motor mounts? I know its a trick we used to use on 240sx and it works wonders.. just clean the motor mounts up real good, and have at it with some urethane in a caulking gun.

this is a random google pic of what im talkin about

Curious if anyone has done it yet?

*Please dont post "go buy some" if you don't have experience with this... seems like a easy answer to alot of threads pertaining to diy is to go buy some lol

its like this right?
im sure u could cake em, the 240sx mounts where simular where u have to cake it

there could still be at least a 40% improvement in stiffness with a $3 tube of urethane.

heres another pic.. its perfect! Its got a cup you can basically just pool the stuff up to it and once cured it will be hard.

Ill do this maybe in 2 weeks when i wont need to drive the car.

heres pics of some 240sx mounts *not my pics, and he used the wrong type of urethane,

*he used the wrong stuff, but you get the idea*, we did this to my friends mounts and they worked great.. I had went solid mounts in my old 240sx at the time so it was different.

I'm not sure the tube urethane would cure strong enough, but I guess you could try and see how it works.

Yeah, it won't do anything for an FC mount.

tried it already, waste of time. my father works for a company that pours, molds and cures all types of urethane products from paper machining rollers to prostetic replacment parts. again no place to fill. the stock mount is 2 pieces, the upper portion which is shown in pics above and a lower steel cup that sits in it to prevent too much rocking or twisting under torque. only cure is and entire new center section, however the mounting points are 2 seperate bolts not 1 long stud. so you would have the option of making a new block of stiffer material and drilling it out and running one larger bolt/stud through the middle creating a much stiffer but still slightly dampened mount.

Honestly, for what it costs, just get aluminum blocks with a holes drilled in them...

the urethane works just let it cure 100% ,, i done it on my dads saab cause the stock mounts cost around $360. so instead of paying that we decide to fill them with a 15 dollar tube, its a quick fix.

but like the others said theres no holes or ribs like the 240sx mounts which you can fill around or cake them
