UR Pulley vs RB pulley?

The only difference between these two main pulleys I'm seeing is about 140 bucks.

The UR pulley is 200 bucks and the racing beat one is 65. They are both aluminum, the UR one comes in pretty colors and the RB one is just black. Anyone find any practical advantage of one over the other?

I have 2 spare underdrive main pullies that make the Racing Beat unit look big. They are really only for race use and have no business on the street. They use a 6 rib belt rather than the standard V-belt. Yes I also have the water pump and alternator pullies but only the main pullies are spares. They were dyno tested to give 3 hp. Pullies don't do as much as everyone thinks they do.

i have the Unorthodox Racing pully on my 86 N/A and my 88 t2, i noticed a huge difference in both cars right away in the acceleration, it reved alot quicker.. i have not seen any negative side affects from the underdrive pully, no higher water temps, no low amps on my alternator, NOTHING.

Yes but have you tried both? Alot of people give excellent opinions on one product, cause thats all they have and they just assume its great. Maybe the RB gives the same as your UR?

Yeah I'm looking for something like this. Did you have them custom machined? I'd like to get a set for the pump and alternator as well. I wouldn't be doing this normally but I'm having another engine put together and I'd like to put an underdrive pulley in there.

These pullies are manufactured for a company in California called Mazda Racing. There is no affiliation with Mazda regardless of the name. I know the supplier. He had a set of them that he messed up on when it came to engraving the logo. He was going to get rid of them but instead I asked for them. That's how I got them. They still work fine if you don't mind the engraving mistakes. The ones I have are for a 6 rib belt. I do not want an underdrive main pulley though and am forced to use an adapted 3rd gen main pulley. It is only a 5 rib though. This is OK since they line up fine and work fine with each other. I just use a 5 rib belt. The 3rd gen alternator pulley could be adapted. This only leaves you needing the water pump pulley. You can find one of these through Atkin's. There are ways of piecing together a system. If you can find out who Mazda Racing is, you can get the exact same set I have.

Mazda racing is about as ambiguous as coke.

I'll try and find them, however, I think I'm just going to go with the racing beat main underdrive pulley.

What made you decide to NOT use an underdrive pulley?
