hey.....i just wanted to let my fellow rx7 freaks about my e-fan. I'm a broke college student so i didnt want to buy one....so i've been on a quest for the perfect fan.
i own a 92 honda prelude si aws vtec as my winter beater. i was cruising in that the other day (it gets better gas milage than the 7) when i realized that it had a pretty kick *** fan.

So i hooked it up to the rx and it has never run cooler (even when i drove it 1hr to my gf's college, and played around in a parking lot for about 30mins. )

I kno i'm going to be burned for putting a honda part on my mazda.....but i works great...so i'll take one for the team.

BURN!!1

What was wrong with the stock fan? My coolant gauge never goes over 1/8th even when pushing it hard.

pics will come on luch break (11:30 est) so i can be properly hated upon by all rx7 owners.

Stock fan runs off a belt............belt = loss of hp.....everyone whos anyone runs an e-fan.....thought it was my time....and i know that now the alternator is running harder and that runs off a belt......but it cant be as much as that stock fan.....and now it runs @ 1/4 on the gauge as opposed to the 1/2 that it was accostomed to.

Your fan is no help when you're pushing it hard. Regardless, the stock fan is fine in 99% of applications. However, an e-fan clears up space and, to some people, looks better.

At least loose the studs that are sticking out from the pulley. One less thing to catch on clothing, etc.

It could also be attributed to engine compression/liveliness... Your added 1/2 hp from taking off the fan is offset by the suspension modifications (strut bars) you've put in.

is it wired up to run all the time?

A temp sensor to turn it on and off i imagine would be helpful. Isn't the engine supposed to run in the middle of the temp gauge? Isn't there an optimal running temperature?

Otherwise I like it. Doesn't look to bad either

The engine is designed to use the fan/clutch combo. What a waste of effort for no pay off. Also E fans work intermittently while the standard is always kinda moving. I guess if i was broke I'd do anything I could too.

I raced a T II with my NA and beat him by prolly 4 or 5. You know the driver makes a difference. if you dyno with and without stock fan you'll be like hmm...not that much. I personally like the electric fans...I wouldnt put one in unless it was a nice one though...

OP, the studs just screw out - just put two nuts on each stud, lock them together and turn the one closer to the pulley. Regular thread.
