Upgraded transmission suggestions

Hello everybody. I have had a chance to save up some money over the winter, but my s4 t2 transmission is starting to go out. I AM pretty hard on my transmissions, (went through way to many NAs) and before this T2 tranny goes, I would like to have a plan.

The one I have now is pretty high milage, (well over 150,000 miles) and it is its time to go. I have learned a lot on rev matching and heal toe with this tranmisssion and I think that has been the only thing keeping it alive. What is happening (even after I changed the redline fluid) shifting into certian gears (mainly second and 5th) grind pretty bad. From my last exp. that means it's going to go soon.

I have came up on some money, and would like to do something that will allow me to literally beat on my next transmission. What would you recommend? I can not have any sort of dogmission or anything that is going to be super loud at higher speeds, but some noise is ok. What options do I have? Would you recommend something like switching to a T5 (I think thats what it is called... the mustang tranny) or just getting my T2 built up?

Thanks
~Tweak

T5's aren't that durable in stock form appently.

Dog ring transmissions aren't necessarily noisy, it's the straight cut gears that they're typically paired with that are noisy.

G-Force sells a dog ring helical (angled cut, like stock) gearset for the T5 that's a lot stronger than the stock set and won't be much noisier than a stock tranny. A few places sell adapters to mate it to a Mazda bellhousing and you'll need a custom driveshaft, a custom clutch and will need to work out the shifter, but it's doable. Expect to drop at least $5k on the whole thing.

ohh geeeeze no, 5k is out of the question. I was thinking more on the lines of 1-2k. I guess... I will just have to find some stronger stock replacment stuff and have it rebuilt. I know its just the syncros that are always going out on me.
