Update on my problems...

Okay, so this afternoon I started my Rex...it actually started. I was getting sufficient power to the coils and a good spark on all four plugs! I had spoke with a local tech at RotaryRx.com, he has helped me out in many ways with this car. He suggested that I turn the key on and wait 20 minutes and start touching electrical components. He told me if anything heats up it most likely has to do with my problem.

Well, after 20 minutes the Main Relay was warm to the touch. So, I started the car and drove it to norm op temp...I then pushed it a bit and had some fun in the dirt...spinning in circles and what not. When I pulled into my driveway I opened the hood and felt the main relay again...it was probably hot enough to light a cigarette on. He told me in that case I was most likely looking at a bad relay...or bad wiring going to the relay...

Does this make any sense to anyone?! Do you think if I replace that relay that the problem could possibly be solved? I am going off to bed now...I will check this tomorrow...thanks!

Most relays that are energized the entire time the car is on will get hot- the coils dissipate heat. solenoids are the same way...if you hear the relay contacts chattering or the relay buzzing loudly, then there's a prob...

Well, no I don't...The odd thing is that the car is fixing itself...that is just strange...

Faulty wire connections do cause heat. But as WAYNE98N/A said, relays usually make noise when they go bad.

Well, I am going to try to duplicate my problem tonight and once it stalls I can test the ignition circuit...Hopefully I can isolate the issue tonight so I can fix it. If not I will just wait until it does it again...I just can't seem to figure out why the hell the car runs after a couple days...Weird...WTF?!?!?! GAH!!

The car has yet to stall...I drove it around aimlessly for two and a half hours yesterday and it did not break!!! DAMMIT! It is going to leave me stuck 40 miles from home again tonight...I can feel it. But, if it does I can test everything...Unless it is actually not going to do it again.

Another thing that happened to me this morning...I let the car run for about 6 minutes...it was in the range of 65 degrees outside...I put the car in reverse and backed out of my driveway. Once I stopped to put it in 1st...the stick would not move...I tried letting the clutch out but it disengaged from the transmission once I started to lift my foot...we are talking like less than an inch...so, I pushed it back down an inch and forced the stick out...no noise of any kind occured...but the clutch needed to be lifted back up with my other foot...It didn't do it again...So...um...WTF?!

Sounds like you have air in the clutch system. Have you bled it before?

That's what I've used in the past. I haven't looked in to anything better because everything I've owned recently has an auto in it.
