Unhappy Unusual vert top problem?

OK, it a '90 vert with 50K. Top looks brand new. Yesterday, when I raised it, I noticed what at first seemed to be tears along the base on both sides just behind the driver and passengere doors. Closer look and it is apparent that it is not a tear but rather about 2 - 2/2 inches of vinyl has simply pulled out of the frame rail that holds the bottom of the top to the body of the car. My question then is do the nuts that are on the cover clips and the bare nuts loosen? If they do, I might be able to re-insert the vinyl, tighten the nuts and not have to bring it to a vert top shop. Have any vert owners experinced this problem?

I have read most posts on vert tops and have not seen this problem raised before.

are you sure that you are not just confusing these "rips" with the normal drain holes that are at the bottom of the top at the back of the doors?

These drain holes are quit large and are in the area you describe. It is not uncommon for rips to appear right above them though, in fact it's where most of the do rip. It's where mine is ripped.
