Unplugged check valve=good idle?

Ok the vacuum line i'm speaking of is the check valve line on the back of the manifold. On M/T there are 2 and 3 for the A/T. Anyways the last one (check valve) I noticed when disconnected my car idles perfectly! Never drops and never pulses. Didn't noticed any performance loss or gain. However, when I plugged the line back in the car idled like ****. Pulsed like S5's usually do and is either too low or too high. And the car dies when I plug the hole. So are there any long term effects of just unplugging the hose from it?

Maybe your check valve is bad.
