Can anyone tell me what the two units are, that are located below the glove box on a '88 GXL. They are attached to the plastic trim panel containing the speaker. One is long and surrounds the speaker. The other is a small silver box between the speaker and the center of the dash. It looks like a control unit of some sort. Maybe for the automatic transmission? I've never seen so many electrical units on one car, they're everywhere! Thanks. Dave C.

 

I think they're the amps for the front speakers. But I'm not sure.

 

Truespin is right. It's an amp for the speakers in the doors.

I know the one in the black box with the speaker is an amp, I recognized the circuitry when I was installing a new speaker.
However, the other one (silver) I didn't dismantle to see what it was, but it's not connected in mine so I'm assuming it was an amp.

 

is't the freaking anti-theft box up in there?????

 

On series 4 cars the factory security is located below the glove box
