Guys, I just took out the factory power antenna and realized that there is a big orange plug screwed on to the antenna; Also a four point plug that conects with another plug by the rear lights? Then when I look at the Universal antenna it only has three wires....WTF? I would really appreciate if there is a way to get this antenna(universal) to work? Oh, I have the 1989 GXL... Thanks
I cannot help, but I'm interested in the antenna that you bought. The brand name is Universal? Wher did you buy it and does it have a wiring schematic.? How much money and have you tried a physical fit? Look half way decent?
Thank you Felixblack1. So its called Universal Power Antenna? I guess I'm too lazy to type that in on a search on the web. Sounds easy to wire.Just a fac wiring diagram or a meter put on the plugs back there to see what does what and when.

I can't remember brand it's universal, cause it fits most imports and I bought from local Discount Auto Parts for about $40.00 and I had to do allitle magic. The antenna was shorter so I reused original base with some metal straps it's place now....The only problem is that the wiring from factory has two conecters: 1) Is screwed to the antenna it's ORANGE;2) Is a smaller plug and conects with another plug coming from the rear lights... and the new one has only three: RED,BLUE and the antenna conection BLK? Can't get the damn thing to work...HELP!!!!
