Unfiltered Air Pump

I have removed my stock airbox, and installed a cone filter. There was no where to hook up the air pump so I made a makeshift filter out of the drop in from my box. But this wouldn't generate enough pressure to open 5th and 6th. So I ripped off the makeshift and she puts around fine, Plus I get a beefier sound from the engine bay as the airpump sucks in air. My question is, what are the downsides to not filtering airpump air? Possible damage to airpump? Oh and I think 5 and 6 open a tad bit earlier (4000 RPM's).

Sucks unfiltered air into the air intake for the rear rotor during deceleration.

Stick something on there so you don't suck a moth or a small bird

go to your local auto parts store, and get a breather filter, you'll see them around. Its for valve covers and **** like that, but it'll fit just nicely in there if you find the right one.... good night

i didnt think that freeing up the air pumps intake would affect the 6th ports?

I have a little bit of a problem with the idea of the aux ports opening earlier or better. The reason I say that is that the Relief solenoid activates at 3500 rpm which in turn dumps the air in acv overboard. It *relieves* it.

Then again you saw it work better and seeing is believing. And about the acv ingesting air during deceleration.......just don't decelerate!

No, there's no, *no,no*. Just put a filter on it. PepBoys and Autozone carry them. To be truthful, I've got a 87turboII outside right now with a K and N and there is no filter on the hose going to the airpump. I procrastinate a lot. I'm gonna get a filter. Maybe. Real soon. Probably. Kinda. But first I've got to put the original filter and air box back on for emissions testing thats coming up in August. No sense rushing it. I'll get one pretty soon. It only draws unfiltered air into the air intake for the rear rotor during deceleration. I'll keep my foot in it until then. No, no no no. Gee, I feel like I'm sinning or something without that filter.

EDIT: Actually, the K and N has a outlet on it. I really just need a longer hose. Someday real soon. I enjoy rebuilding engines.

Bought One. But my aux ports don't open now. Wire em? Or remove the air pump take out the sleeves and block em up?
