Uneven rideheight and negative camber issue.
Hey all, I've got a really stupid question here, it has probably been already answered, but searching has turned up nothing as to why this continues to happen, nor does it return a step that has not already been taken, so here goes.
I have taken ownership of a 10th Anniversary Turbo II from my teammate, Neil. He's posted on here as Gamerophytes. This is a beautiful car, and ever since my very long stay in Japan, I've found that I have always wanted one.
That said, there is something about this car that I just can't figure out. It started off innocently enough: Neil, the former owner of this beauty, was driving along, when he took a turn too shallow and popped a curb. There was no superficial damage upon first inspection so we decided to take it back to base (we're both Marines).
Upon FURTHER inspection, the vehicle had SEVER negative camber on the passenger front side. He, Neil, began to replace anything and everything he could get his hands on. The control arms, ball joints, bushings, struts ( KYB AGXs :-) ) . . .and he's done this for the entire front end. The entire front suspension assembly is pretty much new, but now we have two entirely differing problems which are probably caused by one-another.
First, the ride height is un-even. THe passenger side sits about an inch to an inch-and-a-half lower than the drivers side. We have no idea why this is, he changed the struts, so I think it may have something to do with that. But I'm not sure, the springs are what effect your ride height, right? So is it possible that he didn't reseat the spring properly? I would think that it would be more dramatic than an inch difference though.
Well, that's the first issue . . .
Secondly, but equally as impending, is the fact that the camber is STILL THERE. Not only on the passenger side, but the uneven ride height is causing both the driver's side and passneger side to have negative camber in the front end. Or is it the fact that the camber is off that is causing the ride height issues.
If there is anyone who specializes in suspension work, I would greatly appreciate some insight, or if anyone has a lift and a garage that wouldn't mind looking at the car, I'll pay whatever I have to in order to get this magnificant car running properly.
