Unable to shift into 1st, 3rd, and 5th?

During a drive my transmission stopped letting me shift into first, third, and fifth gears. It wasnt a gradual increased difficulty, it was just all of a sudden. It happened once before, but it self corrected after a minute. I have driven about 25 miles since it started doing this and it hasnt changed. I am low on gear oil, so is that likely the problem?

How would the pilot bearing disable the odd numbered gears only?

good chance that since your low on gear oil you syncros are poorly lubricated. since it self corrected last time i would try putting in some lucus syncro mesh and then topping on the tranny with good new gear oil. and see if that helps first. i say go with the cheaper fixes first it might work instead of going after a full tranny rebuild now.

Thanks for the reply. Would autozone have good enough gear oil for now? I am a few hours away from home, and dont have a single tool to use, so I am hoping that putting in the oil fixes it.
