Un-F%*#$ believeable

So, car overheats today, I think yeah, she broke a hose, so I replace hoses, no leaks, WTF temp walks right up to H, im like HEY! STOP THAT! so i go to take off radiator cap, not on the radiator, but the other one, and i grab it and it pulls the little plastic neck off in 3 pieces, so with a radiator flush, new caps, new hoses, and all that it was a corrdoded piece of plastic??!!!

huh? the filler neck plastic part made it overheat?

oh, was that part just leaking, and it leaked all the coolant out so it overheated?

did you replace the thermostat as well?

Pueblo colorado, yes the filler neck was gone!!! so it sprayed something vicious today in the 90 degree weather.....and it made it hard as hell to find the problem, but my coolant was still green so i didnt overheat my engine, and the temp guage reads H and i can take off my coolant cap cuz no pressure, so archive this **** for someone else when this happens....

Funny how things like that happen. I have come to the point where, instead of replacing parts, I scratch my head and try to figure out what is going on While it is doing it. A million opinions, are just that, what people suspect is the problem, but rarely is unless its obvious.

For instance.. my car has been overheating for the past couple months (but doesn't anymore). I couldn't figure it out for the life of me!!! I knew all the hoses, radiator, caps, etc had been replaced with the engine.

SO, I'm flushing my radiator- doing the run it for 25 mins thing. I have straight water and flush in my system. Temp starts to climb and I'm going WTF.... Knowing that faster fan speed and circulating the coolant (water) will cool it faster, I rev to about 4 grand for a few seconds. Notice a small puff of steam comming from my TB every once and a while.... Hmmm.... I look back there and the coolant line was barely leaking from the end (not from a crack, just seeping). I notice ****** Mazda used the cheasiest spring clamps for this high pressure coolant hose (only 1/2"). I put a real clamp on there, lightly, and problem solved.

I wouldn't notice if I didn't have my head under the hood while it was overheating. I was just about to send it to Mazda to have them put in a new t-stat and flush my system... Thank god I didn't spend all that $$$. It never overheats now, even with the AC on and my alt being heavily taxed by my headlights and system.

Yeah, I sat there squeezing the hoses, like wtf? as it would hiss and let air out somewhere, so I looked and I looked and I LOOKED, but couldnt find it, and finally the damn cap just slumped off and the plastic filler neck was in 3 pieces. So i look at my receipts for hoses and coolant....I could be sponsored by Prestone after this week......5 gallons of coolant, 2 hoses, and a radiator flush, and no one can tell me where the problem is...haha...i love mazda, its like a scooby doo mystery when something breaks...

yeah, the stock hose clamps on these cars are ***. I've replaced most of mine with the screw-on kind.. no more leaks here!
