Ummmm....wtf? I killed my friend...

I must be retarded...

A friend of mine has an Type R integra engine from japan with intake and no cats.
I am running 8 PSI and I killed him. Completly. By 5 cars atleast. Is that normal?

I have a TII, RB exhaust FCD 720cc and cusco flywheel. Running 8 PSI.

Is that normal? Because I feel my engine is much more power full than it should be...Its a j-spec TII I just swapped in. I timed my 0-60 3 times after that and got an average of 5.43secs...wtf?

EDIT: Also, when I get to high rpms on WOT, the engine make this vicious sound, nothing like I have ever heard before...

How do you know if your engine is ported?

B18 in what kind of car? If the motor is stock then you should have no problems beating him. His car is probably a mid 15 second car while yours should be in the mid 14's.

haha...

I'm actually really serious...and even thought I might get flammed for this one.

The injectors were all of black color when I got it. Not red, purple, tan or anything. Thought it was weird but made nothing of it and replaced them with new ones.

And today was the first time I really tried it out, I only finished my car 2 weeks ago and installed my Boost gauge yesterday only.

I'm really wondering guys. Is 5.5sec 0-60 time normal for my mods. Please.

EDIT: Also, I have 120PSI compression on both rotors.

you're 0-60 is still slower than a stock FD so I'd say yes....it's normal.

Stock TII 0-60 is around 6.5s. That's the same as a stock 1997 type R. Older type R's aren't much faster than N/A FC's. 5.43s is halfway between an s2000 and (new) V8 Mustang.

That RB exhaust is adding 50 HP assuming you dealt with the cats too. What's stock boost on a TII? 6psi? If so, that extra 2 psi is worth a 7-9% increase in power, depending on how good the stock intercooler is. Altogether I'd guess about 235wHP. That's a good margin above the s2000.

The light flywheel essentially reduces your weight in 1st gear, and a little bit in 2nd gear too. So that's very handy to have off the line.

(b/c I don't want to double-post)

Most non-turbo cars don't stand a chance against a mildly modified TII, unless they're high dollar cars.

I dunno man. I'd be afraid to even own a turbo, that's why I'm gonna stick w/ my N/A . If I had a turbo I'd get an SAFC 2 before doing a single mod so I could make sure I'm always running rich. But I'm paranoid. That's why I'm not gonna get a turbo.

Yeah, a ported engine will lean it out more. Dunno if it'll lean it out enough. You could always hunt down some videos of ported RX-7's on youtube.

Invest in a narrowband to be sure. You don't want to pop the engine because something is done to it you don't know about. Plus its a good investment.

How hard is that to install? How much does it cost?...And do I have to get a SAF to acompany it and/or run richer...or will I have to change the injectors....again?

Sorry for all the questions

screw the narrow band! go wideband. as far as beating the honda no honda should be killing you unless it's turbo.

are you sure you're stopping at 8 psi? maybe you're spiking?? are you using the stock boost gauge? aftermarket?

MOD list besides what you posted?

Well those Type R engines come with about 195 hp stock and should be running no more than 210-215 tops. With your mods you should be running more than that. Plus he might just be a crappy driver.

Yes, a wideband is better, but its also far more expensive. You can pick up a used a/f meter for pretty cheap, I got my autometer for 60.

And if you don't have an aftermarket gauge, then get one ASAP. The stock one is unreliable.

^^look for deals on widebands on the forum. You can pick up some nice units at a fraction of the cost sometimes.

My car was boosting 12psi all day with similar mods to yours and I even spiked to 15psi once. Are you keeping a close eye on your boost gauge?

Thats the reason why I never tested my car before I got it.

My boost gauge is my best friend right now.

i hate hondas as much as the next guy but you really can't go around saying **** like that. Those POS are light and have good motors that love boost. The only draw back is that they are FWD and look like grocery getters (really the only crappy thing about Honda)
