That evil sound you hear is probably compressor surge due to your boost spiking. That would explain the extra power. Port the wastegate and get a wideband.

A modified TII will have no problem beating a USDM Type R, but I can't say the same for the JDM Type R. Those are rated at 215 HP. You've got some good mods, and should be putting down at least 220 HP to the wheels, whereas he's probably putting down 195 or so. Also, it depends on how the race is. The Type R tranny has a really short gear box. I have to shift my friend's Teg into 4th gear on the quarter mile a decent bit before the end. I think the RX-7 has a very very nice gearing setup. It's got excellent power through every gear, and doesn't drop off in 4th gear like most cars do. So no, I wouldn't say it's unusual that you have him beat, especially if he's not that great of a driver and you're a good driver.

Exactly why I'm wondering. And I took it twice to be sure.

Maybe I'm a retard but, if I'm spiking at 8PSI, that means I cant go higher right? So, if its the case, why would I want to port the wastegate?

And could you describe that evil sound? It doesn't come from the turbo...it seems to come from the engine its self....Its really weird, its like 2 sounds combined together. Engine sound plus something else I'm guessing the wind from the fan is making that sound...

I think I'll record it and let you guys hear what I hear and you tell me if its normal. I never had a TII before, so I dont know what it should sound like. The engine I mean, not the exhaust. And it sounds nothing like my NAs.
