I would guess a ghetto boost controller - chokes off the pressure line to blow off valve? Super-Turbo-Muffler-Bearing-PU38 Space modulator?!?

Okay, we need better pictures to see what it's attached to... is it a fluid line, or wire? looks like wire...

And this thread is full of win, what with the beer. But really, it must be an aftermarket boost controller

Wait... is that a BOV?

No, seriously. Is it an electrical device? (as opposed to something that has fluid running through it)

There we go. I did some digging and it goes through the firewall and into a bundle of cables on the passenger side. Now I think I have a clue what this is. It's a wire, not a hose as i previously thought. I wasn't expecting a wire. And the P.O. said his P.O. had a radar detector or something in the car. Could this ghetto POS be the detector O.O?

So it's an insulated radar frequency horn that isolated one band of radar from interference? the old escort radar detectors had a built in horn that was switchable. I can see that I guess. its a filter for radio frequencies. Odd but possible i suppose.

That's the Turbo Boost device

Dunno what the heck it is, almost looks like some sort of ghetto adjustable fuel pressure regulator.
