Or the extra weight... some people strip their car's out but most don't and you don't gain that much anyway because of the extra metal for the SRS systems.
why would you say i've been very very limited i agreed with you and then asked you a question for my own knowledge, don't turn this into a i know more than you type thread like you seem to do alot to other people.i'm not saying i know more than you or anyone else i've worked on these cars for the past 10 years and i've been around this forum for a long time.don't assume certain things if you don't know.

yeah, but dumb stuff like the rubber plugged S5 and S6 PD, generally are not replaced aftermarket (instead of being mandatory replacement like it should be)...

if i had to pick, i'll say the s5 because i never owned or rode in an s4. but if you're like me and plan to slap on some body kit like gp pro, then get the s4. it's cheaper, it's easier to find parts, and you get the s4 seat belt. just grab the s5 mold panels and s5 tail lights and you should be good. then do a swap in the future. i also like the s5 cluster compared to the s4 though.
Series 4 hands down.
Less weight, simpler wiring, more easily understood and taught to new owners which allows them to grow and become knowledgeably contributing members. Much simpler to put in a standalone too
Both my car and Aaron Cake's are S4's...

Fun to see this pole was resurrected. Bonus points as comment from Ice Mark leads this current page to this thread. I still miss exchanging RX7 insights with my old friend.
Agree with Akagis - - except for your stand alone comment if you're talking about a Haltech because of the S4 TPS being narrow band.
Advantage to S4's as were built with all Mazda electronics. The S5's were hybrid Ford/Mazda parts.

they started with the 1st gen and had an idea..
got it right with the S4..screwed up again on the s5 electricals..
Tinkered with some more Ideas on the FD,half assed OK..crappy AST.
screwed the fine body lines with the RX8..

S5 for me. The styling appeals more to me and the engine is set up more to my liking with the better rotors although I do prefer the flapperdoor AFM on the S4; it reminds me of my old Nissans. I'd have no reservations about an S4 if the condition and price were right. I'd have to change the tail lights, though.
