I'm curious which the majority of RX-7 owners out there perfer. This could settle which one is better once and for all! :hahaha: You can state why or just put your answer but lets see which series wins :)

Well of course S5 will win, but I'm an S4 man myself. :icon_tup: Not saying I don't like S5s, but if I could only have 1 FC, it'd be an S4.

s5 is a superior car in most cases but the majority of fcs were s4 so if people rep what they own then series 4 would win. poll tied atm

Although i own a S4 myself

I'm pretty sure S5 will win because it has more power, and better body style (front bumper, fenders, and tail light etc.)

I have had and worked extensively on both series and I prefer S5.

I owned both. I prefer S4 because shit doesnt have all the S5 bullshit such as Electronic OMP, & them stupid ass seat belts, & you can get an A Pillar Gauge pod for s4s. S5s just look clean sexy BUT S4 FTW.

Yea, S4, since its more deliciously 80's, mechanical OMP, lighter, metal suspension links in the back, normal seatbelts. It does lose out in compression ratio, the front bumper molding, the radio surround and stock wheel choice though. I prefer the S4 tails though, so that may be on other peoples lists

I voted s5. Yes I drive an s4 t2. BUT. The s5 body in my opinion is way nicer with the tail lights and trim. Both series have there ups and downs engine wise.

S5 gets my vote. It's just, different.

S4 would get a lot more votes if the RTek was S4 specific still, methinks.

I prefer S5 for various reasons.

It's nice not having to adjust the tps too ^_^.

I also sorta like 80s looks of rx7s, but the bumpers of the s4 just don't look too gr8, and I like the S5 interior, automatic belts are alright to me, I don't mind getting them repaired for free.

S4 = lighter, more responsive suspension, inexpensive replaceable PB, radically better vehicle speed sensing power steering (or no power steering- manual racks), Mechanical MOP, and they sold 138,919 of them.

S5 = 15-200 lbs heavier, slower softer suspension, cheap ass short cuts (like the welded PD that you can't replace when it leaks, no LSD on GXL models, plastic end links, engine speed sensing power steering, funky guages that don't work for shit) electrical MOP (that when it fails, it likes to take out the ECU), mouse belts on coupes and the 80's Ford T bird inspired tail lights... well alone that they only sold 33,000 of them.

Heck the sales numbers alone should tell you what the better version was.

I like the S4 better for the mere fact that it is more simple yet effective.

I hear the s5 turbo is better and I would tend to agree, since I have 2 S4s and one has an s5 turbo and the other has an s4 turbo.

I also hear the s5 rear irons take more abuse.

If numbers told the story, the S4 would be much better than the FD as there were only 14,000 sold.

I know it’s been many, many years ago, but I purchased a S4 TII new, and with the trailing plug problem along with high exhaust temps that created excessive raw gas fumes, Mazda bought the car back and let me have the redesigned S5 TII for factory cost, which I still have.

Got to say the S5 TII with the front lip, side skirts, colored body molding, interior appointments with black leather, Momo wheel, package shelf, along with the tail lights is far superior. One little item that always annoyed me about the S4 was that the front grille is body colored while the S5 is blacked out.
