Talking UIM design to shift torque band

I'm currently looking a making a custom UIM (upper intake manifold) to shift the torque band down lower. Can anyone give me any input on runner lengths and plemium sizes? For simplicities sake at present I'll be using the stock TB.

Motor is an S5 (90) and turbo setup is twin td05 18's.

Progress on my car has currently ground to a halt, as I'm waiting on my FC2000 bumper and suspension to arrive from japan, so I'm just looking for something to fill a little time in with =)

See my Sig mate. It's an old wip pic, I've since ditched the top mount setup, spacering the bonnet was a pain in the *** (although it spooled VERY quickly, even without a tune and granny driving so as not to pop the motor).

Black91n/a : Cheers for that link. Most appreciated. Need to dedicated a little bit of time to understanding it though

Pilx : Thanks for the positive feedback =)

FrankV702 : Honestly I'd never sell this setup to anybody, because I'd feel guilty putting them through what I've been through to get this far Admittedly would have been easier with only a single wastegate or internally wastegated turbo's. Also the fact that fitted to an american rx7 you don't need to worry about the Stearing arm as I had to. The romance of a TT setup is great, practicle application is a PITA.

Thats what my good ole buddy Steve told me when I was planning on doing a Twin turbo setup.. He said its gonna be really expensive (which i didnt mind), a good tuning, lots of time, and more then likely a couple engine rebuilds :/ so it turned me off. now Im just going with a big single setup. Oh well

With a screen name like "worm burner", you might appreciate this:

Hear's how I got my turbo to spool quicker for more low end.

It's a stock exhaust - until you flip the switch - then it comes ALIVE!!.

Crude - but effective

I'm actually very interested in seeing your exhaust manifold

+1 on the electric cutout.

No matter how much you spend on a overpriced blingin' ricer exhaust system it's more restrictive than a well implemented dump hanging off the turbo that costs a fraction of the money.

Here's my intake build topic that covers intake construction from a practical standpoint:

f1blueRx7 : Here's a pic of an FC manifold that I originally bought, but have since sold on.

Anyway when looking for turbo's from japan, I got lucky and found a pair with an
Fd manifold and wastegates (Anybody know which nissan these gates are off?). I had to modify the runner to the lower wastegate, as there was no way it's fitting in the fc bay otherwise. Also had to spacer the manifold out by 28mm to get it to clear the LIM.

SureShot : Very interesting, very doubtful as to it being street legal over here Besides I kind of like my twin 3" dump pipes merging into a 4" system Sounded SOOOO nice, when I had the car running with a topmount..

Aaron : Cheers, that's a REALLY useful thread. Haven't got around to reading all those link in it yet. Deffinately aluminium for me though.. Constructing the velocities stacks will be the snag for me :/

Since low end torque is my desire, anyone have any construction tips for retaining the seperate plenium chambers for the 2ndary and primary runners?

The velocity stacks aren't actually that hard. Just heat a bit of tubing so the end is red, then pound a cone shapped thingie into it...
