Question Uh, wut happened to my speedometer?

Well, just like the topic states.... I was cruising thru some backroads, nothing unusual until all of i sudden I see my speedometer fall to 0 when I'm going um, a lot faster than that. At first when I dropped my revs below about 3200 it would come back on, but then when I went higher it would drop back to 0, and when i hit little bumps in the road it would blip up a little and just die back down. And now it just basically doesnt work period.

What do you guys think? Disconnected from back of gauge cluster? Bad speed sensor? Loose speedo cable?

The car does not have a speed sensor, its gear driven. Check to see if the speedo cable is tight in the tranny. My friends got loose and had the same symptoms till it totally fell out.

On the drivers side near the oil fill holes on the tranny.

Mine kinda did the same thing. I then drove a day like that and ruined my gauges. Now it sits an inch under 0mph and is like 30-40 miles off.

Hmm while I'm here.
Anyone know how to fix this????
Last time I just pushed the needle back to 0 but it drops to negative speeds once in forward motion and starts to climb from that negative position.

The speedo and tach cables are the BIGGEST pain in the *** to get into the back of the dash unless you have like little girly hands. They are just long enough to make it, but short enough that you need the dash like in its spot already to plug it in, leaving no room to put your hand behind it and shove it in. Took a lot of cursing to get that in, only to have it come out going down the road because it wasn't clicked in all the way. Ended up driving by a cop at what must have been like 20mph in a 45mph zone because I had no idea what speed I was going. If its a loose cable, make absolute sure it snaps firmly into place.
