It sounds like you just need a new alternator. But if you insist of adapting a more powerful alternator, the FD's 100A alt. swaps in fairly easily. The hardest part is getting the correct pulley and belt(s). The wiring changes are very simple, and it physically mounts the same as the FC alts.

Im kinda in the same situation right now.

My 91 S5 NA alternator is going downhill.

I know that FD Alternator uses the same wiring as S5 and bolts right on EXCEPT the pulley part.

So I can just buy a FD Alternator, take the pulley off and swap it with the old pulley from the FC's and everything bolt-on 100% correct ?

No, the FC pulley needs to be drilled out and a spacer needed in order to fit the FD alt. Thus you need to figure out a pulley. I did this swap not too long ago and bought a pulley from Japan2LA. He made some designed specifically for this swap, where it fits on an FD alt and lines up for FC belts. Note that his is of dual belt design, but you don't need to use 2 belts if you still have your air pump. I think he still has a bunch for sale in various colors in the for sale section.

The shaft on the FD alternator is slightly larger than the FC's (@ .030", IIRC).
The stock FC pulley is actually two halves sandwiched together, so it's easy to enlarge the center hole.
I used a lathe and bored out the FC pulley centers and the spacer...took just a few minutes.

Thanks for the answer guys

I have another question tho. I wont boost the NA engine, I will get another TT later. and I wont be adding lots of speakers ... I mean I will replace the speakers with something slightly better and I might add an in-dash GPS into it if its possible.

Do I really need anything higher than the 80AMP stock Alternator ?
