Ideally, you should put them back in the same place you got them from. However, if they are still in spec in another groove, then that's fine as well.

well thanks 4 letting me know on the side seals i was really worried. but i gess i will have to order 3 new ones as it is since i lost/broke them.
my mom is only letting me order certin parts at a time about 200 worth per order so do you guys (and girls) think that these side seals along with some porting templates, and a thermal pellete as a good purchase for the first one? i have everything else orginised out just the side seals i messed up on.
the evans i love just the fact that i never have to change it again is great. my can actually runs cooler now than it was (thank god) with the exception or when i turn on my ac.... that always makes it run hoter than it schould.

Side seal wear is nil. After 186K on my OEM ones, I measured something like .03 mils of wear. Amazing, I wish our apex's wore like that, lol...

Moral of the story, used ones are probably A-OK.

The thing you want to watch for is the side seal-to-corner seal gaps when reinstalling everything, but I bet you already knew that
