Two wire quick guage wiring question?

I am just wondering if anyone could answer theses two questions for me. I have an Autometer temp and A/R gauge that I am wiring up. I have all the wires in place and through the firewall. I would like to know if anyone could tell me which wire (color) and where it is to splice into the ignition for both gauges. The second question is for the temp gauge. I would like to hook up the lighting of the gauge. I search and it seems the popular places to splice into the lighting it either the headlight switch or the cigarette lighter wire. Again and I would like to know if someone could tell me the wire and the place where to hook up the gauge lighting to either of these places.

Thank you guys, I am real tired after spending all night putting my rebuild engine in. (It up and running finally) and if you guys could help me I would be very grateful.

The A/F gauge should be wired up at the ECU, not in the engine bay. You can connect all three wires (power, ground, signal) straight to the ECU's wires. Stay away from the shielded O2 sensor wire in the engine bay.

Finding power for the temp gauge is as simple as finding any switch in the cabin that has switched power to it. A test light or DMM should be used to chech which is the right wire. Same goes for illimination, although this is even easier though since there are only two wires that goes to the cig lighter's bulb holder.

You should really get a set of wiring diagrams. Go to www.fc3s.org or www.iluvmyrx7.com and download the Factory Service Manual in PDF format for free.

Do you know what color the wires are that you wired the 3 from the O2 sensor. I know where to look but I am going nuts trying to figure what wire to splice into.

So, you can see that pin 2D is the one wire to and from the o2 sensor.

The first jpg above shows the pinout of the three plugs. They count from right to left in a up/down method. Its looking at the back of the plugs where the wires are toward the ECU. ONE wire for the 02 sensor. Thats a 87 wiring diagram and the 88 is similar. That 88 is found at http://www.iluvmyrx7.com in the wiring section. The 88 isn't nearly as good as the 87 as far as wiring diagrams go.

As far as a 12v source, remove the glove box and I think you will find a unused plug or two there. Check each pin until you find a source that comes and goes with the key being ON/OFF.
