reflicted cruise control
This will probably sound weird to a lot of you but I was wondering if this has happened to anybody. I was driving my car and had the cruise control set. All of a sudden it floored the throttle. I tapped the brake and it stopped for a second but floored it again. I turned off the cruise control and it stopped but whenever I turn it back on, after a few seconds it proceedes to floor the throttle. It also won't let me set the cruise. when I quickly turn it on and press the set button the light doesn't come on. But, the same thing always happens. I think it's possessed. I was just wondering if any of you know what's going on. I don't think it matters, but just to brag, I have a 10th AE. I'm in the process of building my ported engine. I can't wait to get it done. Thanks for your help.

The switch is *stuck* internally????? Manipulate the switch numerous times and maybe, just maybe buy some cleaner from RadioShack that is meant for switches. Ask them for something like that. I forget the proper name. OH, maybe I do remember CONTACT/CONTROL CLEANER AND LUBRICANT. Then again, it might be something totally different and require some troubleshooting with a meter.

my car did this when i had my cruise control still on my car... i would have it set and it would be great... a couple of min/s later it would accel all by it self.. very strange indeed, i think that over time the computer starts to malfunction and things like this just happen, it's another computer glitch in our Fc's

Store bought Factory Service Manual from Mazdatrix. Similar but not as good wiring diagrams for the 88 can be found at http://www.iluvmyrx7.com there is also a trouble shootin section on the Cruise in the 88 manual. I've never had to use it so I don't know how accurate it is.
