TWO IMPORTANT Questions!
I am trying to figure out what ever chip in the computer does? If anyone knows where I can get that information from that would be great.
I just in stalled a walboro 255lph fuel pump because the old one had seen better days, but I am having a little problem as well MY car will run fine as long as I am spraying Starting fluid into the intake, if I stop the car drops in RPMS then cuts off, so I am trying to figure out what the problems if anyone can help. THANKS so much!

As far as chip in computer, it holds the prom or Eprom that computes inputs and controls the outputs to and from sensors, motors, drivers ect ect ect.
Did you check voltage back to the fuel pump? Also, NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER spray starting fluid into a gasoline engine. It will do nothing but clean all the oil off your lubricated areas and cause uber friction and increase the possibility of detonation at ignition.

hes not saying that, check to see that your fuel pump is working correctly and getting power, if not look at the wires and relays. if so see that its getting to the fuel rail.
Tip: dont over think things, could be as simple as you not getting fuel due to a leak or the pump not working correctly. as for the Computer, look up Electronic Fuel Injection at www.wiki.com(i think thats right) thatll give you a basis as to what a general EFI system and components do if thats what your asking... maybe give a more specific question.
also use the search button, helps alot but it does sound like a fuel delivery problem.

In a 88 the ECU has NOTHING to do with the fuel pump operation, and that seems to be your problem since the engine only runs when starter fluid is sprayed.
So. Jumper the fuel pump check connector and with the key to ON, listen for the pump to hear if it is running or not. See the online FSM for the location of the two socket, yellow in color fuel pump check connector near the afm/boost sensor area.
It sound like the fuel pump is wired wrong.

or it could be that you pulled the AFM off to spray the starter fluid in the intake?
if that is true the AFM controls the fuel pump and also determines how much fuel the engine needs, if you have it disconnected the engine will never run under it's own power until you hook everything back up and try again.

By the way, I spray starter fluid into the airfilter/intake duct and have no problems. Never have, never will.
Just remember to just spray for two to three seconds and THEN start the car. Don't spray continuously to keep an engine running because you'll get a bit of knocking/pinging if you do it that way. Not good.
But just spraying into the inlet duct prior to the afm or into the airfilter is just as fine as frogs hair.
I think the post above this one will solve your problem. If the afm isn't connected/installed, then the engine won't run more than a couple of seconds at best.

injectors
would it do the same thing if the seals on the injectors where gone or missing because I just bought the car and the injectors are easy to move around and after taking one out I notice no o-rings or pintles?

You NEED to do sometihing sensible.
You NEED to jumper the fuel pump check connector and listen for the pump turning....or NOT turning.
IF the car is a non turbo car, I'd never put a wAldo in it. Just gonna flood out on you. Personal prejudice of mine.
