Two different S5 Vert interiors??
Two different S5 Vert interiors??
Vert owners help me out...I own an 89 Vert...and the previous owner...stupidly installed some S4 vert parts in the car..now I do some ebay window shopping and I see that the center console area which has your headrest speakers and fog light switch..also has the top motor switch...on a 90-91 model....ANNNDDDD..the wiper switch set up for the 90-91 model has the cruise control...whereas on my 89...the top motor switch is on the wiper switch..and my center console has a big yellow warning light......so.....vert owners let me see pics of your switches and set ups please..I'm really confused.....are the 89 models different from the 90-91...or has my car just really been messed with....
As proof of my claim...I provide links....

Hey Red...Mazda was notorious at times for using mix and match parts. Unless the previous owner told you he did this specifically, then it probably came that way factory. Ask me how I know! =)
My 'vert is showing as built in May of '89 and has S5 tails. However the leather door panels are the '88 "heavy leather" not the perforated. Also the center console switches and main console switches are '88...just like you are experiencing. I'm in the middle of switching out my door panels...haven't decided if I'll do the switches yet or not.
Hope this helps.

Yea, they seem to be a mixed bag. My 88 'vert has the top switch up on the gauge surround right next to the hazard lights, S4 tails, but perforated leather door inserts and seats.
i have yet to see a 88 with leather that does NOT have perforated seats- they only came one option.
just leave the switches alone, im sure no one swapped them- if thats the way the car came and if they work so be it!

Don't worry about it.
88 and 89 verts didn't have the driver's side airbag. 90 and 91 verts did have the driver's side air bag.
Verts with the air bag have the top switch in the center console, because the gauge surround had to be redesigned for using stalks instead of the flip switches that the 86-91 coupes and 88-89 verts had.
So, it may appear that the 89 uses S4 parts, but that would be incorrect. The wiper switch for example is clearly a S5 wiper switch and does not have the light bulb to flash the hazard indicator in the switch, while of course the 90 and 91 have the cruise power switch in place of the top control simply because with the stalk design for the lame *** air bag there was no room for the power switch.
So it appears that red7rising, that the previous owner was not the stupid one.

yep... maybe he won't be so fast to judge the last owner next time...
For example, what if you were the last owner if that car? Wouldn't you feel slighted when the guy insulted you about hacking up the car, yet he was the one that didn't do his research??? Frankly, it kinda pisses me off that sad attitude knocking other owners, and the S4.
And even if he just didn't know that most of the S4 parts are radically better than the S5 ones... but here he starts the thread knocking the last owner and the parts on the car (which probably are correct for the model and year, but he didn't know better)...wouldn't you feel slighted???
