Turning up boost on the fly...

I was just curious about an idea I had. I havent played with my S-AFC enough yet to find if I could do this, but is there a way to save 2 fuel maps for it to switch between? If there is, then would it be possible to get an electric boost controller, and be able to switch from a lower boost with one set of S-AFC settings, and a higher boost with other S-AFC settings so they could be tuned for both cruising around town and then switch both for a racing application?

I was wondering about this myself. I think if you got a standalone then you can put that info in a laptop and change them on the fly, im not sure this is 100% accurate though.

No it's not possible because the SAFC cannot differeniate between boost levels. Basically you would have to run whatever PSI you tune the car at, but in the end I would it really depends how aggressive you tune it.

You tune it for the highest boost you will run. At lower boost settings the lower airflow is simply measured as such by the AFM. No big deal.

Hm...never thought of it that way. So would it be fine to just get it tuned with specific boost controller settings, then turning it down and back up again to the highest values?

Yeah... yyou would set the boost controller to max and tune the car..... If you have the SAFC set up as %throttle on the SAFC actually hooked into the Boost signal, this will reset the max thottle (boost) to the highest boost setting seen by the SAFC.

Then, set the Boost controller to the lower setting and tune the car for the corresponding point on the %throttle/boost curve.

then, ,when you fluick the switch, the SAFC will see the higher boost levels and use those settings.
