Turning car over by hand
I'm having trouble turning the car over by hand.
As I turn the shaft about 1/4 turn it stiffens up, if I let go it returns to rest and makes a woosh sound.
Anybody know why this is happening?

The car isnt in gear is it?
The reason I ask is I did this yesterday( forgot the car was in gear, yeah I was being stupid)
Well the car has been up on blocks for 4 months now and I have yet to put it in gear, but you never know.

If you're turning it via the crank pulley it's probably because you're a weakling and can't overcome the compression. It's easier to spin the flywheel when doing a clutchjob because it gives you more leverage. You could always put a 19mm socket on the thing and try to turn it that way...

thanks for the comment but I've done it many times before.
Im just wondering because it turned over a few times before that day, but then it just seemed to stiffen up.

its most likely stiff from sitting. pull the plugs, squirt a little bit of atf or regular oil in there and grab a wonderbar, socket, and ratchet and work the motor back and forth gently. try spinning it with the plugs out (that way there will be no compression) if it spins with them out fine then you just arent trying hard enough with the plugs in and the motor is making decent compression.
