mine just did the same thing and i have the same car. This happened on easter day too! Turned out to be a bad starter. Is it sometimes making a whininng noise at the bototm of you r car?

You might wannn get underneath it and hiyt the side of your starter a few times while someone else cranks it. See if that helps. Also could be your solenoid, those tend to crap out alot too.

If you notice alot of t2's will crap oput on starters/solenoids because of the more hate that is generated. CAn you push start?

check the white interlock switch behind the clutch pedal.. mine acts beyond retarded... the plunger on mine has to go all the way in in order for my car to start. i just put a piece of hose on the end to extend it.

Try cleaning you battery connectors or even check your grounds. WHen I had starter problems it was a loose ground. After I had fixed it, my battery connector had a problem and when I turned the key the car lost all power (or so it seemed) but after cleaning the connection (on the battery and the connector.) it worked fine. Worse comes to worse, you can remove your starter and take it to Kragen or autozone and they can test it for free (pretty sure it should be free)

I am having this same issue. My headlights pop up and work, interior lights work, but get absolutely nothing when I try to start the car. Gonna take a multimeter and track through the ignition system probably. I don't like just replacing parts without knowing if it was the problem.

Mine had a worn out clutch interlock switch, the one nearest the firewall.
I unplugger it & jumpered the harness connector.

Then the key switch got intermittant.
It's mounted to the back of the lock with one screw.
Some spray contact cleaner fixed it.

I had the exact same problem on my '87TII about a month ago. Traced it to a connector between the main fuse block - in the engine compartment near the battery on the left shock absorber tower - and the battery.
It is a plug and socket in line on a black wire about 1/8" in size. This thing gets corroded and there is no feed into the ignition switch.
Just pull it apart and scrape with an xacto knife until you see shiny brass then re-plug it.

Look about 6 inches under your engine bay fusebox for a black wire with a spade connector. Is it connected?

This thread about the Ignition Switch might help. https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...switch+voltage

"black wire with a single blade connector"

That's what I meant to say.
