TurboII on Mustang dyno 193 rwhp @ 5.5psi

I took my TurboII to the shop to put it on the dyno, and it came back 193.something rwhp (don't have the sheet in front of me), I forget the torque, right around there. I had them also measure the Air/Fuel with a wideband installed in the O2 sensor bung.

Now, I thought it'd be higher than that because I just had my car weighed in at around 2800 lbs without me in it, and it runs 13.7 @ 104 which I thought is just a little bit high for 193 rwhp (about 240 flywheel hp).

But at any rate, that's what it turned out, I was kinda disappointed, but they swore that's a great run.. the new mustangs (non-cobras) only put out like 190 on this thing they say, and V6 camaros (whoop-de-doo!!) put down like 160.

What do you guys think?

Mustang dynos read a certain % lower than dynojet dynos. I forget the exact %, ..15 seems to stick out inmy head, but Ill look it up and try and get back to you. What are your mods?

That's what I thought, and the thing doesn't even boost creep with that exhaust and intake.. just sits at 5.5psi, and maybe hits 6 psi if i sit on it long enough, then goes right back down.. doesn't creep at all on 3rd

hmmm if by new mustang you mean GT then they should be putting around 220 to the wheels or so, since they have 260 at the flywheel. I know mustang dyno's do read low, but I'm not certain on the percentage.

Mustang dynos will be off if you dont have an accurate weight measurement. Next time get your car weighed with you in it and then go to the dyno.

This is from the guy who owns the place and someone just pulled up in a Mustang GT that ran on that dyno, he told me what she ran (and hers was a stick).

I had it weighed, told him it was 2800 lbs, and he put in like 2750 because "that's what the book says".

With fuel, coolant and oil and whatever junk you have in the car they are usually over 2950.

I weighed it right after a fillup of 94 octane and about 40 lbs of books and tapes in the car, without me, and it came to 2880.

The closest I've been able to come to a number that can compare to dynojet numbers is to double the drivetrain loss from the dynojet number, and will normally put you at the kind of reading that the mustang dyno will give you. This doesnt' work very well in reverse though, but cutting the loss in half off of the mustang dyno, to get a dynojet number, that doesnt' work.

wha? They say estimate +20% to get flywheel numbers. Or to be REALLY conservative they say 15%.

you should be hella proud
good #s!
don't take dynos too seriously; there is an article in the new TURBO magazine (I think) that shows how different dynos give different readings. Some were crazy diferent.

Unless those dynos used the same car on the same day with the same temp and humidity conditions, one can expect there to be differences. Dynojets will differ from one run to another, they're not all that consistant.

Pulled out the rear heavy sound deadening carpet (left regular carpet), single turbo-back ghetto exhaust, cruise control, spare = fix-a-flat, rear wiper & motor (didn't work), A/C removed completely (with part from interior also, and all lines), air pump and rear tow-hooks removed (well that was after).. maybe some other stuff, whatever I can get rid of, I get rid of.
