turbo wastegate help

ON turbo wastegate help
Hi all,
87 t2 stock turbo
car is overboosting, i apply pressure to the wastegate and the rod move about half a centermeter. i think that too little movement to open the wastegate and maintain proper boost.

put a mityvac vacuum tester on it and see if it holds vacuum. if it does then your wastegate arm is probably binding up due to rust or wear.

the lever on the turbo moves freely but the wastegate actuator rod moves little... dont have a vacuum pump right now but can get one tomorrow.
