Turbo tranny wiring help needed.
So my car is an 87 sport. Currently running an s5 turbo tranny. From what I have read in many other similar threads is all you gotta do is match the colors up from the cars harness the same as the wiring on the trannies harness which I have done. Also tried all possible combinations of switching the solid red and solid green wires on the 5th/reverse sensor. Still currently not getting any shift lights or reverse lights. Room fuse is not blowing either. Any suggestions on how I can get this all functional?

Do you have power coming from the black-yellow wire? from the connector from the car? If no power then you have a short somewhere along that wire to the room fuse.
if you have power and you put the transmission in reverse and there is no power coming out from the RED wire of the switch, then the switch is bad.
You can test the switch by putting it in reverse and check for continuity on the BLK-YEL, and RED/RED-GRN wire from the switch with a multimeter. If you have no continuity in reverse then the switch is bad. You can also test to see if the Overtop switch works. Put it in 5th and see if there is continuity from the BLK-BLU and BLK wire from teh switch

I went on a little cruise tonight and saw that in fifth gear and only in fifth gear the shift light randomly flashed but in no pattern and no particular rpm which says a lot is wrong lol. I will break out the multimeter hopefully tomorrow, thank you for the input

So put in a switch that I know is good, all I'm getting is power on the black/yellow wire, since the switch has two red and two green wires does it matter which color wires go to witch for the sake of checking continuity? I know the two reds have the same style connector as each other and the same goes for the set of green wires. When I cut up the stock car harness and put tut the turbo tranny wiring harness on I just needed to match up the color wires to each other and it's all the same correct?

Im not so sure on if the Blk-yel wire comes from the same source. For the 5th gear wire, from teh wiring diagram, it shows it comes from the main relay. For the reverse wire, the power comes from the meter fuse. So if you have power coming from both BLK-YEL wire, take out the meter fuse and which ever one that doesnt have power, thats the wire for the reverse switch.
From the FSM, it says that there should be continuity from the switch when in reverse, and no continuity when in 5th gear.
Its been a long time since I've looked at a transmission.

uh, the wires are reversible which is why mazda used 2 round bullet connectors and 2 box end connectors with no direction switch of the connector ends. so don't bang your heads over the connections.
the switch could be bad, just do continuity tests between the wires on the switch while using the appropriate gears.
most of the time the wires fray and break off right at the switch.
