Turbo Seal Gone Bad???

So today I was driving around and notice that I had some smoke coming out of my engine bay so i pulled over and saw a little bit of oil had been sprayed out of my oil filler neck nipple. So I got home ASAP and checked the oil and the level was fine. So i started the engine and now there is a light smokey mist coming out of the top nipple on the oil filler neck. Does this mean I have a turbo oil seal has gone bad? I have an 87' TII engine in my gxl with a ported wastegate and running about 12psi.

Pull the coupler off the intercooler and see if there is excessive oil in it.

Is the emmission rack still intact? I don't think oil out of the fill cap is a turbo oil seal...

Something might be funky with your PCV system.

Sometimes the oil feed line that goes into the turbo ruptures at the welds on the flange and a small drip of oil will pool onto the top of the hotside and burn up.

I removed all the emissions. There is no smoke coming from the turbo oil lines or the turbo side its self. Just from the nipple on the oil filler neck, will check the coupler to the intercooler thanks fellas for your ideas.

I'm going to guess it's a higher mileage motor and that it's a slight amount of gas seeping past the side seals. FYI turbos don't make boost at idle to pressurize the crankcase.

Edit, isn't there supposed to be a vac line off the nipple on your oil filler neck that is routed to your turbo inlet duct?

It doesn't smell like gas.

Maybe you didn't clearence the side seals correctly and a seal is sticking. I would do a compression check.

So I connected a hose to the nipple on the oil filler neck to see what kind of moisture would build up and it was clear at idle. So I drove it a bit and it turned to oil and a mixture of clear liquid. It seems that it could be gas. If so does this mean my engine is FUBAR?

Is your motor broken in yet?

Well it should be mostly broken in then. It is normal to get water condensate coming out of the oil fill neck. Oh and unless large amounts of fuel was getting into the crankcase I'd think it would either mix with the oil and be invisible (but you could smell it) or it would be in vapor form and still invisible. You could have coolant, oil, fuel, or any combination of the three burning somewhere in your engine bay. Smell the smoke if you can and tell us what it smells like. In the meantime I'd warn you to be careful that you don't catch the car on fire, ESPECIALLY if it's fuel. I was lucky when I had a few very small engine fires.

O.k I'm pretty sure it's water and water wetter, It smells like coolant. So I remember the last time I drove it heated up to just under 3/4 on the stock gauge. I guess that was enough to ruin the coolant seal. Damm so I guess my next bet would be to use Moroso ceramic seal, i've used it on my other 13b and worked great except that motor was burning coolant through the exhaust system.
