Are you going to use it as a paper wieght? need more info. Most likely the answer will be more trouble than it is worth though.

the previous owner of my car said he had a grand national turbo on it, i guess before he sold it... he kept the boost down to 11 psi, and still managed to blow 5 motors in 16 months... probly other things added to this, but he had 720 cc secondaries... oh well... its got a HT18 off a S5 now

is this going on a n/a?

if so: it never ceases to amaze me that n/a people (of all car ownerships) think the primary component to a turbo kit is the turbo. its always "i can get a turbo for xxx low amount of money, so i think im gonna put together a kit." the real spending comes with the IC, ic piping, oil and coolant lines, tuning, etc.

if not, still sounds like more trouble than its worth.

yes i understand that turbo mumbo jumbo i have books lit. hell, a library of info on what is needed to complete a turbo system and how it works and the effect of the IC, ic piping, oil and coolant lines, tuning, etc. all i really asked what you think(in other words is it big enough to supply enough boost would it spool up fast enough ect. i asked because i'm quite sure one or several of you guys done some research or had some dealing with this turbo.( a lot more than me) for now on i'll asked a more detailed question)sorry for the confuison

The stock Hitachi HT18 is larger than those GN T3 turbos.
Even if you can spool up to 18psi, you can't use it with the stock FC turbo ECU electronics, as the stock boost sensor only reads up to 15psi.

the turbo will be for a n/a with a stand alone ecu, i understand that for the ecu to read 15psi and above i will need a 3 bar map but i really don't need that much boost. i would be happy with 15 and less, my goal would be to gain a little more power than what i have, i don't have any interest in popping the engine. just alittle added performance and a challenge.

IMO it would be better to start with something more geared towards our cars. It just seems like a big pain in the *** for nothing that is too special. but hey if you do it, post it!

to me it would only be a big pain if i didn't enjoy it , i'm quite sure i will if i decide if i want to go that route. i also have a garrett turbo with an air .60 and a single opening exhaust housing part# VJ0105L

I have heard that you can use the compressor or turbine wheel from the GN, and it is an upgrade for the stock HT18, I may be wrong though, just what I've heard.
